Hello à tous,
A l'occasion de notre premier concours l'année dernière, Geneviève Coppiatti & Katia nous avaient toiletté nos bébêtes. Depuis, j'essaie de maintenir la coupe, les oreilles, entre les doigts, le bout du fouet... Nous avons acheté les ciseaux pour dépaissir et le couteau à effiler (?). Mais ce n'est pas toujours évident.
Bref, ma question :
Est-ce-que le toilettage de flats est répertorié quelque part ? Quand j'avais cherché sur le net, je n'avais trouvé que des documents à télécharger payants . Les quelques livres que j'ai ne répertorient pas les détails.

Dans une des revues de la RPF il y avait eu un article sur ce sujet, il faudrait demander à Arnaud si il a gardé l'original dans son ordi, sinon je me chargerais de le retrouver et de le recopier

Moi j'aimerai savoir si le toilettage du flat est le meme que pour le golden ? Car sinon on peut prendre exemple sur les croquis des goldens (il en existe des gratuits sur le net)

Je ne retrouve pas cet exemplaire d'@rno sur le toilettage du flat. Je lui demanderai s'il peut poster la copie en soft...

Coucou, voilà de l'aide

Je ne suis pas tout a fait d'accord avec Marion, les différences de toilettage entre le golden et le flat sont minimes. Mais chacun aura toujours sa propre manière de toiletter.

Il est exact que j'avais concocté un article pour la RPF sur le toilettage du Flat.
Ne sachant pas mettre une pièce jointe à un message forum, je transmets mon article à la Chef en Chef pour voir si elle peut l'insérer quelquepart.

Ouf cela décoiffe mais où est passé la belle toison de poitrine ? Le toilettage change l'aspect du chien, dégage l'encolure et remodèle la tête. Il va me falloir des cours... a suivre...

Ce que je viens de trouver pour les Flats

Atkins Any attempt to stylize or change the shape of the dog by shaving, barbering, fluffing, etc is reprehensible and more often than not is a red flag calling attention to the very faults it seeks to hide. A bit of tidying of the ear fringes, throat and feathers should be the only grooming needed.

A correctly presented Flatcoat who is clean and has been tidied for the ring is a joy to see. Sadly, we are now seeing the Scandinavian style of presentation in the UK showring. All the hair is stripped out the front of the neck to the breastbone and tails are sculptured. A Flatcoat should look natural and attempts to glamorise the breed should be condemned. When judging in the UK I do penalise this sort of presentation.

Now that has improved about 500%! Even I remember the days when the dogs just had the dirt knocked off them and were taken into the ring untrimmed and unbathed! Read Flowers used to used a knife to get the excess hair out prior to going in the ring! Nowadays all that has changed. The presentation of Flatcoats is generally top class. However I would say that the style of stripping down their necks which originated in Scandinavia and has trickled across to the UK should be nipped in the bud sharpish. It is NOT the way to present a Flatcoat.

In the main presentation has improved, the majority look as if their coats have received a great deal of grooming, and they are clean and tangle free, teeth are clean and nails kept short, handling is not always good as many newer exhibitors lack rapport with their dog. I abhor the stripped out look that is fashionable in some overseas countries, the neck feathering is there for a purpose, to protect the dog, when out working in heather or bramble. The standard was laid down by those who were trying to evolve a moderate dog for use in the field

The trend in presentation nowadays seems to be that of over trimming, particulary neck and fronts , this is how the Scandinavians trim their dogs and is being copied here. .I personally would penalise excessive trimming in the U.K.as I feel it spoils the look of the dog Handling is all too often spoilt by the over use of tit bits.There is nothing worse than trying to go over a dog when it is greedy for food and it also spoils the expression. Quite often we see a good dog over stretching its front to get a treat making it look very upright in front and standing like a rocking horse
